- Machine Buttonholes:
- Utilize automatic 1-step and 4-step buttonhole functions on your sewing machine
- Master the art of measuring buttons for precise buttonhole sizing
- Learn to mark buttonhole placement accurately
- Extra Buttonhole Techniques:
- Discover how to create buttonholes without a dedicated buttonhole foot or machine setting
- Explore the techniques of bound buttonholes and mock keyhole buttonholes
- Learn to add a touch of elegance with corded buttonholes
Bonus:
- Gain insights into vintage buttonhole attachments and their traditional techniques
By the end of this intensive course, you’ll be confident in your ability to:
- Create a 1 step buttonhole
- Create a 4 step buttonhole
- Create a buttonhole without a machine setting or special foot
- Create a corded buttonhole
- Create a bound buttonhole
- Create a mock keyhole buttonhole without a machine setting or special foot.
Tools you will need to bring
- Your own sewing machine.
- Spare needles (universal domestic machine needles size 80 or a mixed pack if purchasing new)
- A zigzag foot to fit your machine (note, some machines need a specific type of foot connection)
- Buttonhole foot (for automatic button holes and 4 step buttons holes – dependent on your machine)
Sewing Level
Advanced beginner
- You will be at ease using your own machine.
- Understand how to use the straight stitch and zigzag.
- Be able to adjust the stitch length and width.
- Be able to thread the machine and bobbin without assistance.
